HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game One vs. Wellesley College (Non-Conference Game)

- Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, MIT registered a pair of runs to take the lead for the first time in the game. The Engineers' first run came on an RBI single by freshman Michelle Wist (Cypress, Texas) and the other came via an RBI single by classmate Madi Pickett (Santa Barbara, Calif.), who notched her first collegiate RBI in her at-bat.

- The Engineers got into scoring position at the top of the frame as freshman Sarah Von Ahn (West Linn, Ore.) singled to left center and junior Zoe Hinton (Aurora, Colo.) singled up the middle. After sophomore Erika Anderson (Carlsbad, Calif.) came on as a pinch runner, she came all the way around from second for MIT's first run, while Pickett's hit plated Hinton.

- Wellesley scored once in the second and once in the fourth as the Blue held the lead until the sixth in the low scoring affair. Veronica Locher brought home Anna Pisac on an RBI single to left in the second and Autumn Brown plated Kendra Coleman on a fielder's choice in the fourth.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- VanHemel earned the win (2-0) for MIT as she shut down the Wellesley offense with her three innings out of the pen. In ten at-bats against the sophomore, VanHemel surrendered zero hits, one walk and struck out a pair. Delgado made an effective start for the Engineers as she threw the first four innings yielding two runs (one earned), three hits and one walk to go along with two punchouts. Wellesley's Madeline Bianchi shouldered the loss (1-2) on three runs (all earned), nine hits and three K's in six innings.

- The Engineers produced nine hits in today's first game, which was highlighted by a 2-for-3 performance by Hinton.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game Two vs. SUNY Potsdam

- In MIT's second game against Potsdam this week, the Engineers put together single runs in the second inning, the fifth inning and the sixth inning and used a fantastic pitching performance by Nasser to blank the Bears by a 3-0 final.

- With the bases loaded in the top of the second, senior Natalie Shifflet (Poway, Calif.) drew a walk to put the Engineers on the board early. Wist notched a single to leadoff the inning and was followed by Anderson, who hit an infield single and Joseph, who walked to load the bases.

- In the top of the fifth, Nasser helped her own cause by beginning the frame with a leadoff single. After being pinch run for by sophomore Lisa Zhu (Columbus, Ohio) and a single by Wist, Anderson reached on a fielder's choice. In the very next at-bat, freshman Devon Goetz (Rockville, Md.) singled up the middle to double MIT's advantage to 2-0. Von Ahn knocked in Joseph on a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth to give the Engineers a 3-0 lead, putting the game out of reach of Potsdam.

- Nasser was dominant this afternoon against SUNY-Potsdam as she improved to 3-0. The sophomore scattered three hits, walked two batters and struck out eight, which tied her career-high that she set back on Sunday.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Joseph, Nasser and Wist all put together two-hit performances at the plate this afternoon, while N. Shifflet, Anderson, Goetz and sophomore Kim Veldee (Kirkland, Wash.) all contributed a hit to MIT's total of ten.

- Joseph's stolen base in the top of the fourth put her career total at 36, which marks a new program record. The junior broke the old record of 34 back on Sunday against Middlebury and extended it with one more today.

- Potsdam's Meghan Dougherty (0-1) shouldered the loss in a complete game effort as she allowed three runs (all earned), ten hits and four walks.
