Cambridge, Mass. (November 10) -- As part of a series that is taking place throughout the 2020 fall semester, the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) is featuring a number of varsity coaches and DAPER staff members. This next installment of the series features baseball pitching coach/recruiting coordinator Todd Carroll, who enters his 12th season at MIT in 2020-21.

Q: What do you do to unwind during the baseball season? 
A: There's typically not a lot of downtime during the season but I like to read and our staff is pretty social, we spend a lot of time together off the field.

Q: Since working remotely, are there any Netflix series that you have become hooked on?
A: Peaky Blinders is outstanding.

Q: What is your favorite book? 
A: The Great Gatsby.

Q: What is your favorite quote? 
A: "Go after what you love while you can. There will be plenty of time for the concrete caves." - Joe Walsh, former Harvard baseball coach.

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Good Will Hunting

Q: What was your favorite memory as an, whether it be in baseball or another sport? 
A: David Ortiz's grand slam in the 2013 ALCS, Fenway shook that night.

Q: What is your favorite professional sports team?
A: Red Sox

Q: What is your favorite spot to travel to? 
A: Nashville or the Bay Area.

Q: Who has had the most influence on your coaching philosophy? 
A: Jim Curtin, Burlington HS

Q: Do you have any game day superstitions? 
A: A few. I always try to be the first one to the yard. I wear my socks inside out after a loss and I rub my late father's initials on my hat during the National Anthem.
