The Lead: On the final day of the MIT Winter Invitational, the No. 9 MIT women's swimming and diving team won four events, was the runner-up in three races, and recorded five NCAA B-cuts as it claimed second place with 1,634 points. The Engineers posted victories in the 200-yard medley relay, the 200-yard backstroke, the 200-yard breaststroke, and the 200-yard individual medley.

200-Yard Medley Relay
- The "A" relay, comprised of first-year Katarina Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.), junior Edenna Chen (Colorado Springs, Colo.), senior Olivia McGrath (Chevy Chase, Md.), and sophomore Melody Wen (Cary, N.C.) won the event in 1:42.52, registering the third fastest time in the country, an NCAA B-cut and a 2019 invited time.
- The "B" relay finished in fifth place with a time of 1:47.90. The Engineers were represented by sophomore Sasha Konovalenko (Midland, Mich.), graduate student Sara Nicholas (Wilmette, Ill.), first-year Kaleigh Spears (Fairhope, Ala.), and senior Lindsey Bjornstad (Mequon, Wis.).

500-Yard Freestyle
- First-year Miri Griffin (Centennial, Colo.) finished seventh in a time of 5:08.62.

200-Yard Backstroke
- Senior Laura Rosado (New Haven, Conn.) won in 2:01.65, resulting in a B-cut, a 2019 invited time, and the ninth fastest finish in Division III.
- Augustyn was the runner-up, finishing in 2:01.97 and producing an NCAA B-cut and a 2019 invited time. Her performance also ranks 10th in the country.

100-Yard Butterfly
- McGrath was third in 56.66, and just missed the NCAA B-cut by .08 seconds
- Spears ranked fifth with a time of 57.15.

200-Yard Breaststroke
- Chen captured first place with a time of 2:17.84, which currently ranks ninth in the country. She also registered a B-cut and a 2019 invited time.
- First-year Kimberly Dutta (New York, N.Y.) was fourth in 2:25.75.
- Senior Danielle Fang (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) finished fifth with a time of 2:26.21.

100-Yard Freestyle
- McGrath finished seventh in 53.41.
- Wen was eighth with a time of 53.55.
- Cai logged a time of 53.58 to finish in ninth place.
- Bjornstad rounded out the Engineers in the "A" final by placing 10th with a time of 53.63.

200-Yard Individual Medley
- Augustyn won the event in 2:03.97, producing the eighth fastest time in the country, a B-cut and a 2019 invited time.
- Chen was the runner up with a time of 2:06.83.

400-Yard Freestyle Relay
- The "A" relay of Bjornstad, Augustyn, McGrath, and Rosado was the runner up with a time of 3:29.83.
- The "B" relay of junior Jennifer Xiong (Brookfield, Conn.), Cai, Wen, and Chen finished third in 3:31.99.

OVERALL STANDINGS:

- No. 10 Tufts University finished in first place (1753), followed by MIT (1634), Wheaton College (730), RPI (583), Wellesley College (429), Keene State College (178), and Simmons University (58).
