- The Lead: The No. 9 MIT women's swimming and diving team split its dual meet on Friday afternoon as the Engineers notched a victory over No. 6 NYU, 191-139, but fell to No. 10 Williams by a score of 159-139.
 
 
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
 
400-Yard Medley
 
- MIT opened the meet with a victory as the 'A' team of first-year Katarina Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wisc.), junior Edenna Chen (Colorado Springs, Colo.), first-year Kaleigh Spears (Fairhope, Ala.), and senior Lindsey Bjornstad (Mequon, Wisc.) finished first with a time of 3:52.05.
 
- The Engineers also earned a third-place finish with first-year Iris Yang (Seattle, Wash.), graduate student Sara Nicholas (Wilmette, Ill.), sophomore Sydney Chun (Chandler, Ariz.), and sophomore Melody Wen (Cary, N.C.) finishing in 3:57.16.
 
 
200-Yard Freestyle
 
- First-year Miri Griffin (Centennial, Colo.) placed second with a time of 1:56.53.
 
 
100-Yard Backstroke
 
- Augustyn and Yang finished second and third with times of 57.31 and 58.76, respectively.
 
 
100-Yard Breaststroke
 
- Chen captured the event with a final time of 1:03.62. The time is an NCAA B cut..
 
 
200-Yard Butterfly
 
- Junior Angelina Zhang (New York, N.Y.) finished third with a mark of 2:07.15.
 
 
50-Yard Free
 
- Wen and Bjornstad finished third and fourth overall, with Wen clocking in at 24.47 and Bjornstad touching in a time of 24.67.
 
 
1-Meter Diving
 
- First-Year Rachel Loh (Arcadia, Calif.) took second with a score of 286.19.
 
 
100-Yard Free
 
- Sophomore Helen Sun (Solon, Ohio) and Bjornstad finished third and fourth in the event, with Sun finishing in 53.97 and Bjornstad clocking in at 54.37.
 
 
200-Yard Backstroke
 
- Augustyn placed second with a time of 2:06.19, followed by Yang in third with a time of 2:08.00.
 
 
200-Yard Breaststroke
 
- Chen finished in second with an NCAA B cut time of 2:20.26.
 
 
3-Meter Diving

- Loh earned a second-place finish with a total score of 292.65.
 
 
400-Yard IM

- Augustyn earned a second-place finish with an NCAA B cut time of 4:30.18.
 
 
200-Yard Freestyle Relay
 
- The MIT 'A' team of Bjornstad, Sun, Chen, and Wen just beat out the 'A' team from Williams as the Engineers finished in 1:37.11 to defeat the Ephs by a .05-second margin.
