The Lead: The No. 8 MIT women's swimming and diving team set more school and NEWMAC records on day two of the 2022 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships. MIT extended its lead over the rest of the field, building a 184-point lead over second-place Wheaton. Coast Guard sits in third with 251 total points after two days of competition.

Melody Wen (Cary, N.C.), senior
Laura Rosado (New Haven, Conn.), senior
Olivia McGrath (Chevy Chase, Md.), and senior
Lindsey Bjornstad (Mequon, Wis.), and notched an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:34.21 which eclipsed the 2019 invited time of 1:35.95.

- This is the third 200-free relay title for Bjornstad and second for McGrath.

Miri Griffin (Centennial, Colo.) grabbed a second-place finish with a time of 5:03.40 which bested her prelim time of 5:07.08.

Jolie Kim (Englewood, Colo.) finished in fourth with a mark of 5:03.53, improving of her prelim time of 5:08.56.

- MIT took six of the top-10 spots in the event.

Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.) just missed out on a school record with her championship-winning time of 2:01.96. The time did set a NEWMAC Championship record and is the second-fastest time in the nation.

Sydney Chun (Chandler, Ariz.) with a time of 2:05.27

Melody Wen (Cary, N.C.) swam an NCAA 'B' cut time with a time of 23.65 which was good for second in the event.

- First-year
Rachel Loh (Arcadia, Calif.) won the event with a score of 460.10 followed by junior
Katelin Du (Scarsdale, N.Y.) in second with a tally of 458.40.

400-Medley Relay
 - The 'A' team of Augustyn, Chen, Chun, and Bjornstad set a new NEWMAC, pool, and school record with their winning time of 3:42.64.

- MIT returns to the pool tomorrow morning for day three of the 2022 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The prelims will begin at 10 a.m. and the finals will start at 6 p.m. Scheduled events for tomorrow include the 400-IM, 100-fly, 200-free, 100-breast, 100-back, and the 200-medley relay.
