The Lead: The MIT men's track and field team won six events in an impressive showing at its home Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday. Junior
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) won the shot put and the weight throw, while sophomore
Nolan Clement (Fullerton, Calif.) won the 60m dash in a time of 6.85 for the 14th fastest time in the country this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AT MIT:
- In addition to Engebretson and Clement's wins, senior
Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah), won the 3000m, first-year
Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) won the high jump and graduate student
Mozi Guobadia (Katy, Texas) took the 200m.
- Hansen won in a time of 8:33.95, while first-year
Yichen Sun (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was fourth in a time of 8:49.72. Guobadia won the 200m in 22.96, while Meng won the high jump with a mark of 2.01m (6' 7").
- Guobadia finished third in the 60m dash (7.02) as senior
Garrett Whitmore (Webster City, Iowa) was fourth (7.03).
- Junior
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) placed second in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.39, followed by graduate student
Kenneth Wei (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) was third (8.44).
- Wei also placed second in the long jump with a 6.67m (21' 10.75") mark while sophomore
Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) placed sixth with a leap of 6.27m (20' 7").
- Senior
Trey Gurga (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore
Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) tied for fifth in the pole vault with marks of 4.10m (13' 5.25").
HOW IT HAPPENED AT BU
- Junior
Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.) ran the 13th fastest 800m time in the country this season on Friday night with a 1:51.70.
- The MIT 4x400 relay team of sophomore
Conrad Casebolt (Aurora, Colo.), sophomore
Jack DeBaugh (Severna Park, Md.), junior
Ian Koe (San Mateo, Calif.), and first-year
Davis Lee (Mountain Brook, Ala.) ran their fastest time of the season and now rank 13th in the nation with a time of 3:16.18.
