The Lead: The MIT men's track and field team produced eight top-10 placements, including three victories and a nationally ranked performance, at the Springfield College Triangle Classic on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the high jump, first-year
Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) claimed the victory as he cleared 2.04m (6' 8.25"). His mark currently ranks 10
th in the nation.
- Senior
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) won the mile by five seconds, finishing in 4:16.84.
- Graduate student
Kenneth Wei (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) won the long jump with a mark of 6.87m (22' 6.5"), which came on his second attempt. He also finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.34.
- Competing in the 3,000m for the first time this season, first-year
Charlie Black (Portland, Ore.) placed fifth with a time of 8:51.49.
- In the pole vault, sophomore
Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) finished eighth as he cleared 4.25m (13' 11.25") on his last attempt. Seniors
Trey Gurga (San Diego, Calif.) and
Mark Mosser (Lakeville, Minn.) both finished ninth at 4.10m (13' 5.5") with Mosser equaling his PR.
- Graduate student
Paulo Martinez-Riviere (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) posted a PR in the 60m as he logged a time of 7.244, finishing fifth in his heat and 11
th overall.
