Men’s Track and Field Shines at Tufts Cupid Challenge

THE BASICS: 
 
- Locations: The Gordon Indoor Track (Cambridge, Mass.) and Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center (Medford, Mass.) 
 
- The Lead: The MIT men's track and field team tallied two victories and four runner-up finishes at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. The Engineers also saw first-year Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and sophomore Sean Huckleberry (San Francisco, Calif.) produce top-10 performances at Crimson Elite on Friday. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AT TUFTS: 
 
- Junior Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.38.  
 
- Junior Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) recorded the 19th fastest 800m time in the country this season with a 1:54.08 to claim first place. 
 
- Junior Pablo Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) was the runner up in the mile (4:15.97) while senior Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah) placed sixth (4:18.72) and registered a personal record. 
 
- Meng placed second in the high jump with a mark of 2.01m (6' 7") as sophomore Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) finished second in the long jump with a 6.72m (22' 0.75") mark. 
 
- The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Conrad Casebolt (Aurora, Colo.), first-year Davis Lee (Mountain Brook, Ala.), first-year Connor Sterling (New Milford, Conn.), and sophomore Jack DeBaugh (Severna Park, Md.) placed second in a time of 3:21.91. 
 
- Senior Garrett Whitmore (Webster City, Iowa) and Will Liu (San Marino, Calif.) finished third and fourth respectively in the 60m in times of 7.06 and 7.09.  
 
- Casebolt was fifth in the 200m with a time of 23.01.  
 
- Lee placed fifth in the 400m crossing the finish line in 51.36.  
 
- Junior Reece Shuttleworth (Arlington, Va.) was fifth in the 1000m with a time of 2:35.18.  
 
- Senior Mark Mosser (Lakeville, Minn.) cleared a personal-best 4.10m (13' 5.25") to finish fifth in the pole vault. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AT CRIMSON ELITE 
 
- Meng placed sixth with a 1.99m (6' 6.25") mark in the high jump
 
- Huckleberry captured eighth place in the triple jump with a distance of 13.98m (45' 10.5"). 
 
- Junior Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) ranked 12th in the shot put (15.39m / 50' 6") and 13th in the weight throw (17.47m / 57' 3.75"). 
 
- Sophomore Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.) logged a personal-best time of 6.81 in the prelims of the 60m, which ranks seventh nationally.
