THE BASICS: 
 
- Locations: The Gordon Indoor Track (Cambridge, Mass.) and Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center (Medford, Mass.) 
 
- The Lead: Junior Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) swept the shot put and weight throw, while sophomore Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) won the pole vault to lead the MIT women's track and field team at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. The Engineers also saw three student-athletes compete at the Crimson Elite hosted by Harvard on Friday. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AT TUFTS: 
 
- Surace posted a new personal-best vault of 3.85m (12' 7.50") on her third attempt to take the event and record the sixth-best mark in the country this season. Sophomore Katelyn Howard (Lake Oswego, Ore.) set a new personal best with a 3.65m (11' 11.75") mark to rank 19th in the country and place fourth in the event.  
 
- Ball won the shot put with a throw of 12.4m (40' 8.25") and the weight throw with a toss of 16.3m (53' 5.75"). Sophomore Lilia Ould-Hammou (Metuchen, N.J.) and first-year Macy Brennan (Westlake, Ohio) placed third and fourth respectively in the weight throw with marks of 14.0m (45' 11.25") and 13.48m (44' 2.75"). 
 
- Sophomore Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) won the 800m in a time of 2:22.42. Junior Olivia Stoner (Haddonfield, N.J.) and sophomore Stella Gassman (Larchmont, N.Y.) placed fifth and sixth with times of 2:29.52 and 2:30.61.   
 
- First-year Olivia Girand (New York, N.Y.) placed second in the mile with a time of 5:09.35.  
 
- Senior Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) was second in the 400m with a time of 59.07. Junior Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) was right behind in third with a time of 59.69.  
 
- Sophomore Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.62m (5' 3.75"). Senior Tolu Akinbo (Naperville, Ill.) was fourth with a jump of 1.57m (5' 1.75").  
 
- The 4x400 relay team of Dias, Montgomery, Stoner, and Howarth placed third with a time of 4:06.75. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AT CRIMSON ELITE: 
 
- Junior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 14.28m (46' 10.25") and fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 18.89m (61' 11.75").  
 
- In the high jump, Akinbo ranked 13^th (1.61m / 5' 3.25") while Kempff finished right behind her in 14th place (1.57m / 5' 1.75").
