No. 28 Men's Tennis Victorious Over Emerson, 9-0

- The Lead: The 28th-ranked MIT men's tennis team swept Emerson in NEWMAC action Wednesday afternoon, 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Engineers did not lose a single match against the Lions.

- In No. 1 doubles first-years Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) and Adam Sun (Glendale, Ariz.) defeated Leo Ishizuka and Filippo Nocchi, 8-5. Senior Joshua Masuda (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) and senior Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) did not give up a single game in No. 2 doubles defeating Pete Sevikul and Lorenzo Almeida, 8-0. Sophomores Nicholas Liu (San Diego, Calif.) and Jeremy Yu (Coppell, Texas) were victorious over Noah Mesaros and Finn Leeves-Coben 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.

- In singles competition first-year Siddharth Marathe (Pune India) defeated Nocchi 6-3, 6-2 in the top slot. In No. 2 singles senior Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sevikul. First-year Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) defeated Ishizuka 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 singles. Gallagher and Nguyen did not lose a single game to Almeida and Mesaros, coming away with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 5 and 6 singles respectively. First-year Cole Armstrong (Mary Esther, Fla.) secured a 6-4, 7-5 win over Leeves-Coben in No. 6 singles.
