Wei and Engebretson Collect All-America Honors at NCAA Championship

THE BASICS:
 
- Meet: 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship
 
- Location: Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium)
 
- The Lead: MIT graduate student Kenneth Wei (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and junior Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) opened up the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship by earning All-America Second Team accolades on Thursday.
 
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
 
- Wei finished in 13th place in the long jump with a mark of 7.05m (23' 1.75").
 
- Engebretson ranked 14th in discus with a distance of 46.93m (153' 11").
 
- First-year Jonah Goldstein (Pasadena, Calif.) was 21st in the javelin with a throw of 53.21 (174' 7").
 
- In the 1500m prelims, senior Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) finished 18th (3:56.47) while junior Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) placed 20th (3:57.38).
 
UP NEXT:
 
- MIT is back in action on Friday, May 24 at 1:30 p.m. as the Engineers will compete in the shot put, high jump, the 110m hurdles prelims, and the 800m prelims during the second day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship.
