Engebretson Earns All-America Honors, Men’s Track and Field Finishes 10th at NCAA Championship

THE BASICS:
 
- Meet: 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship
 
- Location: Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium)
 
- Results: 10th of 86 (20 Points)
 
- The Lead: MIT junior Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) closed out the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship by finishing ninth in the hammer throw on Saturday. The Engineers ranked 10th out of 86 scoring teams.
 
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
 
- Engebretson recorded a distance of 58.12m (190' 8") on his third attempt, which ranked second in his flight, but it wasn't enough to advance to the finals. However, the performance resulted in All-America Second Team honors.
 
- This was the second year in a row Engebretson finished in ninth place.
 
- Engebretson earned All-America honors in each event he competed in this weekend, as he placed third in shot put and 14th in discus.
