The Lead: The MIT women's track and field team won the program's third consecutive and 11
th overall New England Division III Championship on Saturday. The Engineers amassed 141.5 points, a total 87.5 more than runner up Middlebury College.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Junior
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) repeated as the champion in the hammer throw, shot put, and discus. She won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.08m (187' 3"), the shot put with a mark of 15.06m (49' 5"), and the discus with a PR of 50.53 (165' 9").
- Sophomore
Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) captured the triple jump crown as her last attempt reached 11.80m (38' 8.75").
- Junior
Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) won the 400m with a time of 55.81 while junior
Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) was eighth in 58.57.
- Senior
Paige Cooksey (Ormond Beach, Fla.) set a PR of 1:01.66 in her 400m hurdles victory.
- The 4x400 relay, comprised of senior
Madeline Hon (Manhasset, N.Y.), Cooksey, sophomore
Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.), and Dias finished first in 3:50.99.
- Junior
Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) was the runner up in the hammer throw with a PR of 50.56m (165' 10") and the discus (47.20m / 154' 10") while also placing fifth in shot put (12.58m / 41' 3.25"). Also competing in discus, first-year
Macy Brennan (Westlake, Ohio) ranked seventh with a mark of 39.04m (128' 1").
- Sophomores
Katelyn Howard (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and
Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) finished second and third in the pole vault. Howard cleared 3.88m (12' 8.75") on her last attempt while Surace reached a height of 3.78m (12' 4.75").
- The Engineers claimed second, sixth, and eighth place in the 800m. Senior
Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) led the way with a time of 2:09.66 while Montgomery and sophomore
Erin Hovendon (Laurel Park, Mass.) both logged PRs of 2:14.13 and 2:16.45, respectively.
- First-year
Olivia Girand (New York, N.Y.) was the runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase as her time of 10:52.55 resulted in a PR.
- In the high jump, senior
Tolu Akinbo (Naperville, Ill.) finished fourth as she set a PR of 1.67m (5' 5.75") on her final attempt. Meanwhile, first-year
Amalia Christina Toutziaridi (Athens, Greece) tied for eighth place with a height of 1.57m (5' 1.75").
- The 4x400 relay, comprised of senior
Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.), junior
Olivia Stoner (Haddonfield, N.J.), first-year
Jessica Meza (Columbus, Ind.), and Hovendon placed fourth with a time of 9:29.90.
- In the javelin, sophomore
Elaine Wang (West Des Moines, Iowa) ranked fifth with a distance of 37.86m (124' 2").
