BOSTON, Mass. – Highlighted by victories from senior
Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) and junior
Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.), the MIT women's track & field team generated nine top 10 performances at the Riverhawk Invitational that was hosted by UMass Lowell at The TRACK at New Balance on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED – TRACK EVENTS:
- 200 Meter Dash: Senior Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) was the top Division III finisher in the event as she clocked a time of 25.67 seconds.
- 400 Meter Dash: Miller added a 10th place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 57.72 seconds.
- 800 Meters: Junior Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) turned in an impressive fourth-place finish as she posted a personal-best clip of 2:11.35.
- Mile: The Engineers saw two runners finish in the top 11 as junior Kate Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) took sixth place in a personal-best time of 4:53.22 and sophomore Liv Girand (New York, N.Y.) placed 11th with a personal-best time of 4:59.91.
HOW IT HAPPENED – FIELD EVENTS:
- Pole Vault: Surace won the event with a mark of 3.85m (12' 7 1/2") and classmate Katelyn Howard (Lake Oswego, Ore.) finished fourth at 3.70m (12' 1 1/2").
- Triple Jump: Junior Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) finished seventh as she recorded a mark of 11.37m (37' 3 3/4") and was the top Division III finisher in the event.
- Shot Put/Weight Throw: Boykin won the shot put with a mark of 14.76m (48' 5 1/4") and the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 20.12m (66' 1/4").
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Montgomery's 800 time marks the best in the East Region this winter by nearly seven seconds.
- Sanderson and Girand now hold the top two times in the region in the mile following Saturday's strong performance.
- In the pole vault, Surace and Howard both rank in the top 10 in all of Division III with their respective marks.
- Boykin's mark of 20.12m is the best in the nation currently and surpassed her previous personal-best of 19.98m that had been set at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The distance is a program record and ranks third all-time nationally.
