Doyle, Dzenutis Pace No. 1 Women’s Track & Field at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — First year Elise Doyle (Danville, Calif.) finished third in the pole vault and sophomore Paige Dzenutis (Norfolk, Conn.) was fourth in the high jump to lead the No. 1 MIT women's track & field team on Saturday at the Brown Invitational at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center.

THE BASICS:

  • Team Score: 8th of 11 (14 points)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • High Jump: Dzenutis cleared 1.51m to take fourth, earning MIT five points in the event.
  • Pole Vault: Doyle was MIT's top finisher, clearing a personal record 3.70m to finish third and earn MIT six points. Junior Tessa Baker (Reno, Nev.) added an eighth place finish with a season best mark of 3.10m, picking up another point for MIT.
  • Shot Put: Sophomore Ivy Brenner (Healdsburg, Calif.) set a PR of 10.94m to take 16th. First year Amelia Bronhard-Yates (Ringoes, N.J.) added a toss of 10.72m. 
  • Weight Throw: Junior Lilia Ould-Hammou (Metuchen, N.J.) set a PR with a throw of 15.52m to finish seventh and earn two points in the team standings. Sophomore Macy Brennan (Westlake, Ohio) was 15th with a mark of 13.96.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Doyle's mark in the pole vault was the 20th best in the country and the fourth best in the region this season and an NE DIII qualifying mark.
  • Brenner's PR in the shot put is good for 25th in the region.
  • Both Ould-Hammou and Brennan set NE DIII qualifying marks in the weight throw. Ould-Hammou is now fifth in the region in the event. 

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT will compete next Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1, at the New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
