RALEIGH, N.C. — The MIT women's track & field team got the outdoor season stared on Thursday, competing at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University.
THE BASICS:
HOW IT HAPPENED - FIELD EVENTS
- Shot put: Senior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) finished fourth with a mark of 15.34m (50'4"). Classmate Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) was 34th with a mark of 12.44m (40' 9 3/4").
- Javelin: Sophomore Elaine Wang (West Des Moines, Iowa) was 20th with a mark of 40.82m (133' 11")
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Boykin is the nation's leader in the shot put to begin the spring season. Ball is ranked 15th in Division III in the event.
- Wang is the early national leader in the javelin.Â
- All three marks were New England DIII Championship qualifying marks.
