PROVIDENCE, R.I./DURHAM, N.C.— Junior Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) clocked the sixth fastest 800m in Division III at the Friar Invitational, as the No. 2 MIT women's track & field team opened the weekend at a pair of meets on Friday, competing at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. and the Friar Invitational in Providence.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Friar Invitational:
- 800m Invitational: Junior Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) was 7th in 2:11.30.
- 800m: First year Maeve Sullivan (San Antonio, Texas) took 7th in 2:17.77. Senior Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) was 23rd in 2:200.87.
- Mile: Junior Rujuta Sane (Chandler, Ariz.) was 26th in 5:10.46.
- 3000m Steeple: Sophomore Liv Girand (New York, N.Y.) was 8th in 11:02.66 and classmate Heather Jensen (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) took 10th in 11:27.58.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Duke Invitational:
- 1500m: Grad student Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) was the first of three MIT finishers, taking 31st in 4:30.21. Senior Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) was 43rd in 4:32.26 and junior Lexi Fernandez (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) was 51st in 4:33.94.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Montgomery's time in the 800m was a PR, the sixth best in Division III and the top time in the region this season.
- Sullivan's 800m time was the fourth best in the region, while Dias is 13th in the regional rankings.
- Sane's time ranks fourth in the region in the 1500m.
