Howard Leads No. 2 MIT Women's Track and Field at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C.— Junior Katelyn Howard (Lake Oswego, Ore.) finished sixth in the pole vault, recording a top ten NCAA Division III mark to lead No. 2 MIT women's track and field team on Saturday at the Duke Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Pole Vault:

  • Howard was 6th in Group B, clearing 3.85m (12' 7.5") on her final attempt at the second progression. First year Elise Doyle (Danville, Calif.) and junior Hailey Surace (Snohomish, Wash.) did not clear the opening height. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Howard entered the day 11th nationally and will move inside the top ten with today's mark.

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT competes at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Sunday. Events begin at 10:00 AM.
