SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The No. 3 MIT women's track and field team captured its fourth straight and 16th overall NEWMAC title, scoring 278 points to win the 2025 NEWMAC Women's Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the Mount Holyoke College Turf and Track Complex.

TOP PERFORMERS - Running Events:
- 3000m Steeplechase: Sophomore Liv Girand (New York, N.Y.) won the event with All-Conference honors in 10:52.82. Classmate Heather Jensen (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was the runner-up in 11:08.85.
- 4 x 100m Relay: Paige Dzenutis (Norfolk, Conn.), JoJo Miller (Marietta, Ga.), Shreya Kalyan (Troy, Mich.), and Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) earned first team All-Conference honors, winning the event in 48.49.
- 1500m: Grad student Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) was second in 4:38.41. Senior Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished on the podium in third in 4:39.82.
- 400m: Junior Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) and senior Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) swept the top two spots and All-Conference accolades. Montgomery took gold in 56.39 and Dias was just back in 56.78.
- 100m Finals: JoJo Miller was the top finisher for MIT, earning a spot on the podium in 12.34 seconds.
- 800m: First year Maeve Sullivan (San Antonio, Texas) was the event winner in 2:14.45. Junior Erin Hovendon (Laurel Park, N.C.) also finished on the podium, earning a third place finish in 2'16.85.
- 200m: Marina Miller captured the NEWMAC title in 24.79 seconds.
- 5000m: Juniors Rujuta Sane (Chandler, Ariz.) and Kate Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) each finished on the podium. Sane earned second team All-Conference honors in second, with Sanderson in third in 17:27.81.
- 4x400m Relay: MIT closed out the weekend with a fifth place finish in the 4x400m behind a time of 4:09.15 from Sullivan, Hovendon, Jessica Meza (Columbus, Ind.) and Olivia Stoner (Haddonfield, N.J.).
TOP PERFORMERS - Field Events:
- High Jump: Junior Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) was the top-finisher for MIT, earning a spot on the podium by clearing 1.56m (5'1.25") to finish third.
- Discus: MIT was dominant in the discus, earning the top four spots in the event. Senior Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) took home the title with a throw of 40.87m (134'1"). Sophomore Macy Brennan (Westlake, Ohio) earned second team All-Conference honors with a mark of 38.89m (127'7"). First year Olivia Carpenter (St. Louis, Mo.) was third (35.96m) and sophomore Lily Siegelman (Newton, Mass.) was fourth (35.70m).
- Shot Put: Ball added a second NEWMAC title in the shot put with a mark of 12.38m (40'7.50").
- Triple Jump: Nony Otu Ugwu (Katy, Texas) earned second team All-Conference honors with a mark of 11.93m (39'1.75").
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The top two finishers in each event earned NEWMAC All-Conference honors.
- Girand and Jensen posted a pair of NCAA DIII top times, with Girand posting the 15th best time and Jensen running the 26th fastest time in the steeple. Each of the top four finishers in the race posted a time inside the top 50 nationally.
- Montgomery and Dias each totaled top 50 national times in the 400m. Montgomery's time was the 26th fastest and Dias is currently 42nd.
- Sullivan broke into the top 50 nationally with her win in the 800m, posting the 49th fastest time this season.
- Miller is now 35th in the 200m thanks to her winning time of 24.79 in the 200m.
- Otu Ugwu posted a top ten Division III mark in the triple jump and is currently ninth nationally.

- MIT will compete next weekend at the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 2 and 3 at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
