WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Grad student Gillian Roeder (Delmar, N.Y.) won the 1500m, sophomore Liv Girand (New York, N.Y.) took first in the Steeplechase and senior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) captured both the shot put and the discus as No. 3 MIT women's track and field competed on Saturday at the Williams College Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza (FIRE) at Lee Track.Â
THE BASICS:Â
TOP PERFORMERS - Track Events:
- 100m: Sophomore Shreya Kalyan (Troy, Mich.) finished 12th in 12.63. Kalyan was one of five MIT runners in the top 34 in the event.
- 200m: Sophomore JoJo Miller (Marietta, Ga.) was 7th with a PR of 25.23.
- 400m: Senior Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) was 2nd in 55.99 and classmate Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.) was 3rd with a PR of 56.53.Â
- 800: First year Maeve Sullivan (San Antonio, Texas) and Roeder each finished in the top ten. Sullivan was 5th with a PR of 2:13.21 and Roeder was 7th with a PR of 2:14.07.
- 1500m: Roeder and senior Christina Crow (Mercer Island, Wash.) took the top two spots. Roeder won the event in 4:26.24. Crow was second with a PR of 4:30.16.Â
- 5000m: Junior Kate Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) was 3rd in 16:37.54.Â
- 3000m Steeplechase: Girand won the event with a PR of 10:43.02.
- 4 x 400m Relay: Dias, Kalyan, Krystal Montgomery (San Jose, Calif.) and Marina Miller combined to win the event with a time of 3:46.51.Â
TOP PERFORMERS - Field Events:
- High Jump: First year Paige Dzenutis (Norfolk, Conn.) was 7th after clearing 1.53m (5'0.25").Â
- Long Jump: Junior Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) was fifth with a mark of 5.33m (17'6").
- Triple Jump: Kempff also finished 5th in the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.17m (36'7.75").
- Shot Put: Seniors Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) and Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) each finished in the top three. Boykin was first with a toss of 14.85m (48'8.75"). Ball was two spots back, taking third with a throw of 13.01m (42'8.25").
- Discus: Boykin and Ball went 1-2 in the discus, with Boykin winning the event with a throw of 49.33m (161'10") and Ball taking second with a toss of 44.08m (144'7").
- Hammer: Sophomore Macy Brennan (Westlake, Ohio) took fourth place, throwing 48.93m (160'6").Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Dias entered the national top 50 in the 400m with her finish. Marina Miller is already MIT's top time in the 400m thanks to her time (55.87) at the Sean Collier Invitational.
- Sullivan is now 45th in the 800m.
- Roeder is on the way to qualifying for outdoor nationals in the 1500m, her time from Saturday ranks third in Division III. Crow is now 23rd in the same event.
- Sanderson's 5K was the 13th fastest in Division III this season.Â
- Girand continues to improve in the 3000m Steeple, her PR moved her into the top ten nationally at number nine.Â
- MIT's effort in the 4 x 400m was its best of the season and currently has the Engineers sitting in eighth on the national list.Â

- MIT will host the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday afternoon at Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track.
