DEDHAM, Mass. – Senior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) threw a season best in the shot put, recording the best mark in Division III this season, as the No. 3 nationally ranked MIT women's track and field team competed on Saturday at the 2025 Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University at the Solomon Track & Field Facility.
THE BASICS:
TOP PERFORMERS - Running Events:
- 400m: Senior Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) was second in 56.24.
- 1500m: Sophomore Liv Girand (New York, N.Y.) finished eighth in 4:36.12.
TOP PERFORMERS - Field Events:
- Javelin: First year Olivia Carpenter (St. Louis, Mo.) finished sixth with a throw of 36.05m (118'3").
- Long Jump: Junior Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) finished 12th with a mark of 5.17m (16'11.50").
- Pole Vault: First year Elise Doyle (Danville, Calif.) was fourth, clearing 3.62m (11'10.50"). Junior Tessa Baker (Reno, Nev.) added a 13th place finish, clearing 3.32m (10'10.75").
- Shot Put: Boykin and classmate Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) each finished in the top ten. Boykin won the event with a throw of 15.39m (50'6") while Ball finished 7th with a mark of 12.97m (42'06.75").
- Triple Jump: Kempff was fourth with a jump of 11.23m (36'10.25").
- Hammer: Awaiting official results... Macy Brennan (Westlake, Ohio) had throws of 47m and 48m.
- Discus: Awaiting official results... Boykin won the event with a throw over 51m, establishing a new PR and a school record. Ball added a throw over 45m.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Girand's time in the 1500m is a an NCAA Top 50 time, ranking 49th nationally.
- Baker clears 3.32m in the pole vault, a personal record for the junior.
- Boykin continues to set the standard in throws, she already owned the top mark in DIII in the shot put thanks to a throw of 15.34m at the Raleigh Relays.
- Kempff had a strong day in a pair of events, including a new PR in the triple jump. Her mark is currently 63rd nationally.
