Cambridge, Mass. - Senior Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) of the MIT softball team has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Third Team Academic All-American the organization announced today. The Academic All-America Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.   

Bivin is one of eight repeat selections and one of two three-time honorees selected this season. She becomes the second three-time Academic All-American in program history. Additionally, Bivin is one of eight student-athletes (out of 33) with a perfect 4.0 GPA. 

On the field, Bivin graduates as the program leader in numerous categories including career home runs, single-season RBI, career RBI, and career doubles. She became the program's first First Team All-American in 2023 and is a three-time NEWMAC First-Team selection, and a three-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference member. This season she hit .358 with 13 doubles and four home runs. She knocked in 34 runs and scored 36.  

Off the field she graduated with a degree in Business Analytics and Economics and now works with the San Diego Padres in the Research and Development Department. She assisted with gameday stats with the athletic communications office and was a Teaching Assistant in both the MIT Department of Economics and the Sloan School of Management. Bivin was a Counselor and the Development Coordinator at Camp Kesem where she worked with and obtained corporate sponsors to help raise $160,000 for the operation of year-round support for families, including a free summer camp for kids whose parents are battling Cancer.
