LOUISVILLE, K.Y. - MIT softball head coach Madison Trotman and her staff of Emily Kraytenberg, Amanda Genovese, Courtney Zambello, and Michaela Russell have been named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Region II Coaching Staff of the Year. This is the third-straight Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honor for Trotman and her staff.
The Engineers claimed their third-consecutive NEWMAC Tournament Championship after winning the regular season title for the second time in the last three seasons. MIT had a league and program-best eight NEWMAC All-Conference Players, including NEWMAC Rookie of the Year Delaney Benevides (Plainville, Mass.). Trotman and her staff also earned their second Coaching Staff of the Year award. Additionally, Benevides was named the NFCA Regional Rookie of the Year as seven Engineers earned NFCA All-Region accolades, which were the second most in Division III this year.
MIT set new program records in homeruns, runs, stolen bases, and tied the record for team batting average.
