MARLBOROUGH, Mass.  – MIT's Alexia Ninios was named the NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 7. This is the first time she has received this award.
 
In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, Ninios made five saves and recorded the first shutouts of her career. She was not forced to make a save but defended a penalty corner in a 4-0 win over Simmons University last Tuesday. Ninios followed this up by making five saves in a 2-0 victory at the University of New England on Saturday.
 
MIT returns to action on Wednesday, September 9 when it travels to No. 13 Endicott College for a 7:00 PM game.
