Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) and
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) each competed in the 5,000 meters on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
- In Section 4, Acquaviva finished in 13th with a time of 14:42.46 and he was followed by Kearney in Section 5 as he crossed in fifth out of 22 runners in that section with a time of 14:23.48 that broke the MIT school record that was previously held by former All-American Matt Deyo from 2016. Both times currenty rank among the top 10 nationally in Division III.

- Overall, Kearney was 58th out of 84 overall finishers, while Acquaviva placed 71st. Both Kearney and Acquaviva ended the recently-completed cross country season as All-American honorees.
