- The Lead: At the Art Farnham Invitational on Saturday afternoon, the MIT men's track and field team picked up seven event wins as the meet also included Regis, Wentworth and Franklin Pierce.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the long jump, junior
Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas) made his final jump count as he took the event with a leap of 22 feet, 2.5 inches to narrowly edge out teammate
Kenneth Wei (Mount Sinai, N.Y.). Wei was second with a distance of 22 feet, 0.75 inches, along with a sixth-place finish by sophomore
Josiah McMenamy (Yuba City, Calif.) with a jump of 18 feet, eight inches.

- Budiman picked up the win in the 60 meters as well, crossing in 7.01 seconds to win by .05 seconds. Junior
Omozusi Guobadia (Katy, Texas) placed fifth, running a time of 7.29 seconds.

Benton Wilson (Dublin, Ohio) captured the 400 meters in a time of 50.58 seconds, followed by first-year
Ian Koe (San Mateo, Calif.) at 51.84 seconds. First-year
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) completed the sweep of the top three spots in 52.84 seconds, with
Andrew Spears placing fifth at 54.46. In the 3,000 meters, first-year
Carlos Villa (Gurnee, Ill.) finished second in a final time of 9:21.77 and in the 1,000, first-year
Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.) was second in 2:35.55.

- Sophomore
Garrett Whitmore (Webster City, Iowa) won the 200 in a time of 23.41 seconds, while Guobadia was third in 23.71 seconds and sophomore
Ian Gatlin (Brentwood, Tenn.) in ninth at 25.40 seconds.

- In the shot put, senior
Nathan Basinger (Dalton, Ohio) led three Engineers in the top 10 as he finished second with a throw of 47 feet, 8.5 inches. Junior
Henry Sobieszczyk (Newton, Mass.) placed fifth at 44 feet, seven inches and first-year
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was ninth with a throw of 36 feet, 11.75 inches. The same trio competed in the weight throw, as Basinger was again the runner-up with a throw of 49 feet, 9.75 inches. Engebretson was third at 45 feet, nine inches and Sobieszczyk placed sixth with a throw of 43 feet, three inches.

- Junior
Steven Marquez (El Centro, Calif.) won the high jump with a clearance of six feet, 0.75 inches to tie
Stephen Harris from Franklin Pierce. The MIT 4x400 relay team also won its event as they crossed in 3:28.08 to defeat Franklin Pierce by .98 seconds.

- In the pole vault, senior
Max Hardy (Houston, Texas) was the winner with a clearance of 14 feet, 11 inches.
Liam Ackerman (Miami, Fla.) was second at 14 feet, 5.25 inches, with senior
Everett Brandyberry (Hill City, Kan.) Â in third at 13 feet, 11.25 inches. Junior
Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) finished fourth with a height of 13 feet, 5.25 inches and junior
Ben Urquhart (Lansing, Mich.) in fifth at 12 feet, 11.5 inches.
