Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
-
Set 1: MIT jumped out to a 5-1 lead and maintained a comfortable cushion as its advantage grew to 24-10 after a kill by junior
Consecrata Rozario (Cary, N.C.). A serving error, a block by
Camille Flurry and
Camille Sterling, and an ace form
Sheyenne Williams extended the frame for Clark. The Engineers thwarted the late run courtesy of a kill by sophomore
Ella Gragg (Morganton, N.C.).
Â
-
Set 2: A kill by
Sofia Scherrer del Llano brought the Cougars within 6-5. However, MIT senior
Alyssa Unell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) responded with a kill which sparked a 13-6 run. Clark capitalized on a serving error, but the Engineers claimed six of the last points as an ace by Unell secured the 25-14 win.
Â
-
Set 3: MIT quickly established a 7-1 advantage. However, the Cougars battled back and narrowed the gap to three on four occasions, the last at 12-9 on a block by
Victoria Pastor and Sterling. This was as close as it would get as a kill from Unell ignited a 13-5 match-ending run by the Engineers.
