- The Lead: The No. 12 MIT field hockey team recorded its second straight shutout against a NEWMAC opponent as it defeated Mount Holyoke College, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon. Senior Paige Forester (Glencoe, Ill.) posted two goals and first-year Marisa Montione (Charlotte, N.C.) generated one goal and two assists for the Engineers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Following eight shots and three penalty corners, MIT broke through in the ninth minute when Montione scored on a pass from senior Erica Radler (Wayne, N.J.). The Engineers continued to control the action in the second quarter and eventually increased their lead in the 21st minute when Forester redirected a feed from first-year Marissa Liu (Chesterfield, Mo.).

- MIT doubled its advantage to 4-0 during the first 10 minutes of the third quarter. Almost five minutes into the frame, Montione collected the rebound of a blocked shot and found senior Liberty Ladd (Falmouth, Maine) for the goal. In the 40th minute, first-year Bailey McIntyre (Concord, Mass.) connected on a pass from Montione during a penalty corner.

- The score remained unchanged until the final 3:31 of the contest. Sophomore Eva Oppenheim (Larkspur, Calif.) ended the stalemate with an unassisted marker and then on a penalty corner, Forester scored on a pass from senior Carly Briggs (Lexington, Mass.) with 51 seconds remaining.
