Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas), the No. 6 ranked MIT men's track and field team competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at BU and the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT BU:

- On Friday night, the distance medley relay team of sophomore
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.), first-year
Ian Koe (San Mateo, Calif.), first-year
Pau Ilerbaig-Bajona (Toronto, Canada) and
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) ran the No. 8 time in the nation as they finished eighth overall in a time of 9:57.75.

- On Saturday, Wei finished sixth overall and is ranked third in the country with the school-record time of 8.04 seconds in the finals. This broke his own school record by a .05-second margin.

- In the 800 meters, Wilson and Ilerbaig-Bajona both ran times that rank among the top 20 in the nation. Wilson was 16th overall and is ranked second nationally at 1:50.16, while Ilerbaig-Bajona was 47th overall and is ranked No. 19 with a time of 1:52.66.

- In the 1,000, first-year
Reece Shuttleworth (Arlington, Va.) finished 20th overall in 2:28.60 and was second in his section, followed by first-year
Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.) in 30th place at 2:30.65. In the mile, Hardart finished 71st overall and is ranked 12th in the nation as he ran a time of 4:07.79, along with sophomore
Raymond Brookman (Santa Cruz, Calif.) placing 21st in the 3,000 in 8:30.19.

- Graduate student
Reid Kovacs (Palo Alto, Calif.) finished second overall and won his section of the unseeded 5,000 meters as he ran a time of 14:38.50. In the seeded 5K, junior
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) ran 14:20.63 and is ranked 13th in the country. Junior
Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) is now ranked 31st after running a 14:35.14, while senior
Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) is 33rd nationally after posting a time of 14:49.46.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE GORDON KELLY INVITATIONAL:

- In the 60 meters, Budiman captured the event in a time of 6.94 seconds to break the previous school record by .02 seconds. The previous record holder was junior
McKinley Polen (Los Altos, Calif.), who finished seventh in the race in 7.27 seconds. Budiman also finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 3.5 inches.

Carlos Villa (Gurnee, Ill.) earned the win in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:10.12, while first-year
Samir Amin (Olympia, Wash.) was second in the 1,000 meters in 2:38.32.

- In the weight throw, senior
Nathan Basinger (Dalton, Ohio) won the event with a toss of 53 feet, 8.5 inches. Senior
William Woltmann (Secaucus, N.J.) finished fifth at 49 feet, 2.25 inches and first-year
Sam Engbretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was sixth at 48 feet, 8.75 inches. The trio also competed in the shot put, where Basinger led the way in third at 48 feet, 4.25 inches. Woltmann was eighth with a throw of 47 feet, 7.25 inches and Engbretson was 10th at 45 feet, 7.25 inches.

- Led by a runner-up finish by senior
Max Hardy (Houston, Texas), the Engineers had five top-10 performances in the pole vault. Hardy posted a season-best height of 15 feet, 11 inches and is currently ranked 11th in the nation. Senior
Everett Brandyberry (Hill City, Kan.) and graduate student
Liam Ackerman (Miami, Fla.) were third and fourth, respectively, with heights of 15 feet, five inches and 14 feet, 11 inches. First-year
Luka Srsic (Worthington, Ohio) placed sixth with a clearance of 14 feet, 5.25 inches, with junior
Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) finishing 10th with a height of 13 feet, 5.25 inches.

- In the high jump, sophomore
Spencer Yandrofski (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was third with a clearance of six feet, 2.75 inches, along with junior
Steven Marquez (El Centro, Calif.) placing eighth at six feet, 0.75 inches.

Garrett Whitmore (Webster City, Iowa) was fourth in the 200 in 23.42 seconds, while junior
Evan Schaefer (Frederick, Md.) was fifth in the 400 (52.18) and first-year
Andrew Spears (Albuquerque, N.M.) crossed in sixth (52.87).
