MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- MIT men's cross country sophomore
Renne Cooper has been named the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending October 19, 2025. With the award, Cooper earns the honor for the first time this season and the second time in his career (Sept. 16, 2024).
MIT sophomore Renne Cooper finished 12th in 24:21.13 in the Men's 8k Blue Championship Race on Saturday at the Conn College Invite, helping to lead No. 23 MIT to a sixth-place finish in the team standings. Cooper made a big move from the 1.65K mark, jumping up from 56th place in the early going to as high as 8th at the 5.7K mark before taking 12th at the finish alongside teammate Yichen Sun's 11th place finish in 24:21.02.
Cooper and MIT will look ahead to the team's NEWMAC title defense at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships on Saturday, November 1 at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.
