MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Head Coach Riley Macon and the MIT men's cross country coaching staff have been named the 2025 NEWMAC Men's Coaching Staff of the Year as the Engineers swept the major conference awards after winning the program's 27th consecutive NEWMAC title last weekend at Highland Park.
Macon as well as MIT Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, Julie Heyde and assistant coaches Whitney Macon, Ziyad Hassan '25, Christina Crow '25 and Ned Farrington earned the honor following a vote of the NEWMAC's head coaches. Macon and the MIT coaching staff have now received the honor in each of the past four seasons dating back to the 2022 campaign.
MIT had seven finishers in the top ten at the NEWMAC championships to record a team score of 20 points. The Engineers had eight All-Conference recipients including senior Tim Neumann, the top finisher at this year's NEWMAC Championship in 25:07.9, and the2025 NEWMAC Athlete of the Year. Neumann is the 12th straight and 23rd overall runner to earn NEWMAC Runner of the Year honors for MIT.
MIT's Sam Hansen was the top first year in the field, taking eighth in 25:43.0 to claim NEWMAC Runner of the Year Honors. Hansen is MIT's 15 consecutive and 24th overall NEWMAC Rookie of the Year.
