CAMBRIDGE/MEDFORD, Mass. — Junior Sean Huckleberry (San Francisco, Calif.) took first place in the triple jump with a mark of 14.97m as the No. 5 nationally ranked MIT men's track & field team hosted the Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday at the Johnson Athletic Center.
Huckleberry's victory was one of four on the day for the Engineers, as members of the team competed both on campus and at the Tufts Stampede at the Gantcher Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Gordon Kelly Invitational:
- 60m: Junior Nolan Clement (Fullerton, Calif.) took 3rd in 6.92, with Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.) just back in fourth in 6.95 and graduate student William Liu (San Marino, Calif.) in 6th in 7.02. Senior Paulo Martinez-Riviere (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) was 7th with a PR of 7.10. Grad student Garrett Whitmore (Webster City, Iowa) finished 8th.
- 200m: Senior Andrew Spears (Albuquerque, N.M.) was 12th in 24.27.
- 60H: MIT swept the top two spots in the event, with senior Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) taking first in 8.19 and junior Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas) finishing second in 8.45.
- High Jump: Sophomore Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was second with a mark of 1.95m.
- Pole Vault: First year Jaden McKee (Riverside, Calif.) was second, clearing 4.75m. Junior Sawyer Garrett (Sherborn, Mass.) was fourth, clearing 4.45m.
- Long Jump: Junior Nathan Shapiro (Glenview, Ill.) was second, clearing 6.74m.
- Shot Put: Sophomore Justin Buonato (Horsham, Pa.) took fifth with a mark of 13.93m. First year Gavin Reardon (Ward, Ark.) added a PR of 12.11m.
- Weight Throw: Sophomore Connor Kalvar (Floyd's Knobs, Ind.) was seventh with a mark of 14.88m. Buonato added an 8th place finish with a mark of 14.85m.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Tufts Stampede:
- 600m: Sophomore Ayman Noreldaim (Iowa City, Iowa) was fourth in 1:23.92.
- Mile: Junior Jake Cobb (West Deptford, N.J.) won the event in 4:15.64. Senior Andres Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) finished fourth in 4:28.43.
- 3000m: Sophomore Yichen Sun (Chapel Hill, N.C.) was sixth in 8:43.08.
- 5000m: First year Renne Cooper (Austin, Texas) won the event in 14:50.12.
- Distance Medley Relay: Senior Ziyad Hassan (Ashburn, Va.), junior Jared Steins (Chino Hills, Calif.), sophomore David Whitaker (Northville, Mich.), Sam Coutts (Pacific Grove, Calif.) took second in 9:53.96. Senior Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.), junior Kristian Praizner (Folsom, Pa.), Noreldaim, and junior Tim Neumann (Downers Grove, Ill.) added an 8th place finish in 10:07.40.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Clement's time in the 60m was a PR and lands him inside the top 50 in the NCAA Division III in the event.
- Martinez-Riviere has the 21st best time in the region in the 60m.
- Shapiro's performance in the Long Jump moved him to fifth in the region
- Huckleberry's mark in the triple Jump moves him up to 34th on the Division III national list and second regionally.
- Hassan, Steins, Whitaker, Coutts now hold the second fastest time nationally in the Distance Medley Relay. Opsahl, Praizner, Noreldaim, Neumann also rank in the top ten nationally, checking in ninth.
- Reardon's shot put PR gives him the 39th best performance in the region.

- MIT will compete at a pair of meets next weekend, with the team split between the Brown Invitational and the Springfield College Triangle Classic on Saturday, February 22.
