- The Lead: Over the weekend at the NEICAAA Championship, the No. 22 ranked MIT men's track and field team finished fourth out of 40 teams with a total of 35.5 points. The Engineers piled up 24.5 points over Friday's competition to lead the way.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY:

- Junior
Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) qualified first in the 110-meter hurdles as he crossed in a time of 14.52 seconds to advance to Saturday's final. In the long jump, Wei took the All-New England title with a leap of 24 feet, 8.25 inches to win the event by almost 19 inches and sit at No. 5 in the nation.

Benton Wilson (Dublin, Ohio) finished eighth in the prelims of the 400 meters as he ran a time of 48.11 seconds to advance to Saturday. Junior
Evan Schaefer (Frederick, Md.) finished in 24th place in the prelims in 50.07 seconds.

Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) earned All-New England accolades as he finished third in the 10,000 meters in a time of 30:47.21. Sophomore
Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah) placed 14th in the event, crossing in a time of 32:39.79.

Liam Ackerman (Miami, Fla.) led three Engineers in the pole vault as he finished third at 15 feet, five inches. Senior
Everett Brandyberry (Hill City, Kan.) joined Ackerman with All-New England honors as he was sixth in the event, also clearing 15 feet, five inches. First-year
Luka Srsic (Worthington, Ohio) came in 11th with a height of 15 feet, one inch.

Nathan Basinger (Dalton, Ohio) placed 19th in the hammer throw as he posted a toss of 164 feet, 11 inches.

HOW IT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY:

- In 110-meter hurdle final, Wei finished second in a time of 14.41 seconds as he improved by .11 seconds from his prelims time. In the 400, Wilson earned All-New England accolades as he placed seventh in a time of 48.98 seconds.

Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) took 13th place in the 800 meters in 1:54.36, while Basinger led the three Engineers in the shot put. Basinger finished in 16th with a throw of 48 feet, four inches, followed by senior
William Woltmann (Secaucus, N.J.) in 19th at 47 feet, 6.25 inches and first-year
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) in 21st at 47 feet, 1.5 inches.

- Engebretson earned All-New England accolades in the discus as he was eighth at 162 feet, three inches. Basinger placed 12th in the discus with a throw of 148 feet, seven inches.
