Luka Srsic (Worthington, Ohio), the MIT men's track and field team wrapped up the 2022 regular season at the MIT Final Qualifier meet on Thursday evening at the Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Srsic shattered the MIT rookie record as he PR'd by nine and a half inches and won the event with a clearance of 16 feet, 7.25 inches. He cleared that mark on his first attempt at that height and now enters nationals as the top seed as that vault is No. 2 on the MIT all-time list. Graduate student
Liam Ackerman (Miami, Fla.) improved on his previous season-best as he will return to nationals after finishing second at 16 feet, 3.25 inches. Ackerman is now ranked sixth in the nation. Senior
Everett Brandyberry (Hill City, Kan.) was third at 15 feet, 5.25 inches, along with a tie for seventh by junior
Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) at 14 feet, 5.5 inches.

William Woltmann (Secaucus, N.J.) jumped into the top 20 in the country in the shot put as he won with a throw of 52 feet, 7.25 inches to move to No. 17 nationally. First-year
Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished fourth at 48 feet, 3.25 inches and senior
Nathan Basinger (Dalton, Ohio) was sixth at 45 feet, eight inches.

- Engebretson picked up wins in both the discus and hammer throw with tosses of 159 feet, four inches and 181 feet, two inches, respectively. Basinger finished second in the discus at 151 feet, 10 inches and fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 169 feet.

- In the 4x400, the team of junior

Benton Wilson (Dublin, Ohio), first-year
Walter Truitt (Houston, Texas) and senior
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) defeated WPI by .71 seconds as the team crossed in a time of 3:16.02.

- Truitt finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles final as he qualified in a time of 14.61 seconds.

Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) placed second in the 1,500 meters in 3:53.59, followed by senior
Nicholas Medearis (Palo Alto, Calif.) in sixth in a time of 4:00.97. In the 800 meters, first-year
Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) was second in 1:54.36 and senior
Matt Schofield (Shorewood, Ill.) was fourth in 1:54.72. In the 100 meters, junior
Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas) crossed in fourth place as he ran a time of 11.11 seconds.
