Sport Shorts Spotlight: No. 19 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Opening Weekend, Starts Season 3-0

The No. 19 MIT men's volleyball team kicked off the 2026 season with a dominant 3-0 start, sweeping both Purchase College and Arcadia before battling to a 3-1 victory over Rutgers-Newark. Nate Toth powered the offense, recording a team-high 15 kills and five aces in the weekend finale, while setter Colin Zimmerman facilitated the attack with 42 assists against the Scarlet Raiders. The Engineers' defense was equally stifling, notably holding Purchase to a negative hitting percentage in the season opener.

The Engineers look to keep their perfect record alive as they travel to Boston on Wednesday, January 21, for a road matchup against Emmanuel. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
