Sport Shorts Spotlight: Dominant Weekend for MIT Squash: Engineers Secure Back-to-Back Wins
The No. 13 MIT squash team enjoyed a highly successful weekend, following up a gritty 7-2 road victory against No. 16 Amherst with a commanding 9-0 sweep of No. 26 Wesleyan. Against Amherst, Hyun Su Price headlined the effort by outlasting his opponent in a five-set thriller at the top position, while teammates like Isaac Torchinsky-Field and Sean-Winston Luo secured efficient early wins. The momentum carried into Saturday’s home match, where the Engineers dominated Wesleyan by winning nearly every set, punctuated by Mitav Nayak’s resilient 3-2 comeback victory. These consecutive wins improve MIT’s overall record to an impressive 12-3 as they continue their mid-season surge. The team now looks to carry this elite form into postseason play as they travel to Charlottesville, Virginia. The Engineers will next compete in the MASC Championships, held from Saturday, February 14, through Sunday, February 15.
