The MIT track and field teams delivered strong performances at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships
The women's team captured 10th place out of 72 programs, marking their fourth consecutive top-ten national finish. Senior Hailey Surace led the women on opening day by clearing a career-best 4.10 meters to secure national runner-up honors in the pole vault. Additional podium finishes from Amalia Christina Toutziaridi in the high jump, Elaine Wang in the javelin, Shreya Kalyan in the 400 meters, and the 4x400 relay team cemented the women's top-ten status. Meanwhile, the men's squad finished tied for 34th overall, highlighted by a rainy 800-meter final where teammates Jared Steins and David Whitaker placed sixth and seventh with near-identical personal records. Owen Sondag and Anthony Meng added to the men's success by staging impressive comebacks in the 10,000 meters and high jump to secure second-team accolades. Jonah Goldstein also secured his first career podium spot for the men by placing eighth in the javelin. In total, the women's team accumulated 12 All-America honors, while the men's squad captured 6.
