Sport Shorts: This Week in MIT Athletics

Sport Shorts Spotlight: MIT Sweeps into NEWMAC Final, Then wins 5-set thriller over Babson for Championship

No. 12 MIT rolled through the early rounds of the NEWMAC Tournament with 3–0 wins over Wellesley and Coast Guard to reach its fifth straight conference final. In the championship, the Engineers battled No. 2 Babson in a five-set thriller, taking the match. Led by Tournament Most Outstanding Player Ali Gibbs and strong performances throughout the lineup, MIT captured its fourth NEWMAC title in five years and secured its 24th NCAA Tournament berth.

Men's Cross Country

  • MIT will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C. Check the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.

 

Women's Cross Country

  • MIT will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C. Check the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.


Women's Soccer

  • MIT will play Washington University in St. Louis in the third round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship this Friday at 11:00AM at Messiah College.
  • Additional information will be posted on the team’s schedule when it becomes available.
     

Women's Volleyball

  • MIT will host the regional round of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship this Thursday through Saturday in Rockwell Cage. The Engineers will play Pacific Lutheran in the first round on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
  • Addition information will be posted on the team's schedule when it becomes available.


Water Polo

  • MIT will compete in the Northeast Water Polo Conference Championship this Friday through Sunday at Brown. The Engineers kick off the tournament with a 3:00 PM game against Iona.
