Sport Shorts Spotlight: Kim’s Overtime Heroics Lift No. 23 MIT Over Union, 3-2

Sierra Kim netted the game-winning goal just 2:16 into overtime as the No. 23 MIT field hockey team edged Union College, 3-2, in a non-conference thriller at Jack Barry Field on Saturday. Jane Tortorella tallied a goal and an assist, setting up Sammi Blocher’s second-quarter strike after opening the scoring herself. Union twice erased one-goal deficits, but Kim’s decisive finish sealed the Engineers’ third win of the season. Goalkeeper Maeve Zimmer anchored the defense with eight saves in the back-and-forth contest.
