Sport Shorts Spotlight: MIT Football Cruises to Record-Breaking 70-0 Victory

MIT football delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating New England College, 70-0, at Steinbrenner Stadium. The Engineers scored 35 points in the second quarter to take complete control of the game. Jimmy Conners, Leo Mont and Colter Mahabir each rushed for two touchdowns, while quarterback Ryan Treptow added a rushing score and connected with Keegan Doody for a touchdown through the air. MIT's special teams also contributed, with Mateo Kamarck blocking a punt for a touchdown and Nate Gehrs recovering a botched punt snap in the end zone. Defensively, Willem van Roijen recorded two second-half interceptions as MIT held NEC to just 18 yards of total offense. The Engineers' 70 points, 10 touchdowns, 70-point margin of victory and 18 yards allowed all set modern-era program records. MIT now looks to carry their momentum into NEWMAC play on September 26 at Springfield.
