Sport Shorts: This Week in MIT Athletics

Sport Shorts Spotlight: Engineers Sweep NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships


The No. 5 MIT women's swimming and diving team and No. 6 MIT men's swimming and diving team each claimed the NEWMAC Championship over the weekend. The women's team won its 15th straight NEWMAC title, winning 19 of 20 events during the four-day meet. The men's swimming and diving team claimed its 17th-straight and 20th overall conference title as the Engineers won a total of 13 events over the four-day meet. Next up, qualified divers will head to Connecticut College for the NCAA Diving Regionals which will run from Friday, February 27 – Saturday, February 28 while NCAA swimming selections will be announced on Thursday, February 26 on NCAA.com.

Championship Update:


Women's Basketball

  • MIT is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Springfield in the first round of the NEWMAC Championship on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Check out the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.
  • Note: The highest remaining seed will host subsequent rounds of the tournament on Friday and Sunday.
     

Rifle

  • MIT will host the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference Championship on Saturday and Sunday. The smallbore competition will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday while air rifle will be on Sunday starting at 9:30 AM. Check out the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.

 

Squash

  • MIT will compete in the College Squash Association Team Championship this Friday through Sunday in Philadelphia. Check the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.

 

Men's Swimming and Diving

  • MIT will compete in the NCAA Diving Regional on Friday and Saturday at Connecticut College. Check out the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.

 

Women's Swimming and Diving

  • MIT will compete in the NCAA Diving Regional on Friday and Saturday at Connecticut College. Check out the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.  

 

Men's Track and Field

  • MIT will compete in the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston on Sunday. Check out the schedule for updated information as the week progresses. 


Women's Track and Field

  • MIT will compete in the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston on Sunday. Check out the schedule for updated information as the week progresses.
